Tieshu graduated from University of Toronto with a MASc degree in Mechanical Engineering. He modeled the frictional contact problem in the nuclear fuel element for a CANDU project. He is currently in the PhD program studying the vibration issues in a jet engine.

 

 

Zhongjie (Forrest) Li

Zhongjie Li is research candidate under the supersion of Professor Jean Zu. He obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees in Harbin Institute of Technology, China. His previous projects were mainly about deployable structures, especially solid-surface deployable machanisms. He discovered the Twin-Bennett linkage and applied it to a deployable solar concentrator. His current research area focuses on building vibration-based energy harvester.

 

 

Zia Saadatnia

Research Interests: Nonlinear Vibration, Energy Harvesting, Applied Mathematics.

Zia is currently a PhD student in Mechanical Engineering at University of Toronto. He is also a research assistant in the VDML Lab under the supervision of Prof. Jean Zu and co-supervision of Prof. Ebrahim Esmailzadeh (University of Ontario Institute of Technology). He got his BSc and MASc degrees from Iran University of Science and Technology and University of Ontario Institute of Technology, respectively. His current research is mainly focused on Nonlinear Vibration and Energy harvesting.

 

 

Abdelsalam Ahmed

Abdelsalam is currently a PhD student in Mechanical Engineering at University of Toronto. He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering from Ain Shams University in Egypt. Then completed his Master of Science from Cairo University in Egypt. Abdelsalam is currently a research assistant under the supervision of Prof. Zu and Prof. ZL Wang (Georgia institute of Technology, Nanoscience Research Group) in VDML lab. His current research area focuses on Fundamental study and novel design of triboelectric nanogenerators. Integrated nanogenerator-based self-powered systems, including design of energy harvesting devices, energy storage units, and interface circuits. Design, fabrication and test of Nano-devices for mechanical energy harvesting and sensor applications.

 

 

Christopher Rabbitt

I graduated from Carleton University in Ottawa with a B.Eng degree in Mechanical Engineering, minoring in Statistics. I've come to Toronto from Victoria, BC where I spent the past four years working as an engineer for the provincial Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, focused on vehicle dynamics and vehicle safety, primarily of large commercial vehicles. I am currently on a leave-of-absence, and pursuing a MASc degree at the University of Toronto.

Liming Xin

Liming Xin graduated with BSc in 2004 from Jilin University in China, and got his PhD in 2009 from Chinese Academy of Science. Liming is now a postdoctoral fellow at the Vibration, Dynamics and Mechatronics Laboratory in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at the University of Toronto, before that he worked in 3M and TE connectivity in the field of product development and advanced manufacturing technology respectively. His current research focuses on biomedical instruments. He published 21 papers in refereed Journal publications and conference proceedings.
