Research

Maryam's main task for the summer term is to investigate a wide range of synthesis processes in order to evaluate which will offer the most and the purest yield in making lanthanum nickel iron oxide (LNF) powders for cathodes. The two most promising are the glycine-nitrate combustion method and the solid state solution method, each having their respective advantages and disadvantages. By the end of the term she hopes to evaluate which method will lend itself for large scale production while requiring the least amount of time and intervention.

Two other side projects for the term include tuning various parameters for the spray drying of LNF powders; and an experimental outline for the synthesis of strontium magnesium molybdenum oxide (SMMO).
